Most of us don't give importance
to the things that have gone old.
Few of us don't like to use things just because
they are old even though they are usable.
We would have discarded many things, which we
would have brought home with lot of excitement
and interest; however, with time, the interests
change, and we go for similar articles of new
patterns and designs.
The articles that are rare; don't lose their
value, quality, workmanship, and have been surviving
through ages are known as antiques. |

The articles made of metals like silver, gold, brass,
and so on, electronic gadgets, and so on that are at
least or more than 100 years old are considered as antiques.
There are standards to ensure the purity and quality
of silver, even though it is centuries old. Centuries-old
silver is known as antique silver. Before buying an
antique silver article, make sure that for every thousand
parts there are at least 925 parts of silver and that
is known as Sterling silver.
Also, Britain had started the unique way of
hallmarking and had introduced various markings
on the silver articles to indicate the era and
year of its make. The standards in silver are
Sterling silver, and Brittania silver.
Assay Town, Date Letter, Maker, Old Sheffield
Plate, and Electroplating were different marks
on the silver in the past era.
These markings prevented fraudulence and people
could differentiate antique silver articles from
recently made ones.
Almost all the antique silver articles depict
the culture, tradition, history, and rule of its
time.
